Chase the Sun: October.

Fancy prolonging your summer? We've picked out a holiday location that will still be hot in October.

There’s an elephant in the room and he’s been in here a while... he even convinced us to send someone to sunny Rome just so we didn’t have to accept that SUMMER IS OVER!

There, we’ve said it. Now get back outside Nelly, it’s time to move forward.

In our brand-new ‘Chase the Sun’ series, we’re going to handpick a selection of sunny utopias that would make excellent winter holiday destinations.

Today, for example, is a travel destination guaranteed to still be hot in October...

Cordoba, Spain.

Located in the province of Andalusia, southern Spain, Cordoba remains Espana’s best kept secret.

Right now (mid-September) the weather is 27°C and according to accuweather.com it will stay around that mark for the duration of October. Box ticked.

Summer isn't generally considered to be the best time to visit either; the temperatures of 35°C+ are more conducive to a siesta than a fiesta! In autumn though, the weather is still hot (and dry) so exploring this beautiful city is much easier.

The magnificent Great Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba was originally built as a Catholic church but the Umayyad Caliphate conquered Spain in 711 and the church was divided into Muslim and Christian halves. Things, needless to say, got more complicated (but we won’t give the whole story away).

The Romans made a lasting impression here and the Roman bridge of Córdoba and Calahorra Tower of the Roman Temple are also worth a visit.

Make sure to meander in the streets, laze in the shade for lunchtime tapas, go out late in the evening, enjoy the street entertainment and mix with the locals. Go on, Chase the Sun...
