Black Friday is a good thing. Even for those unwilling to lose teeth over a flatscreen TV.
We’ve rounded up the best Black (eye) Friday bits to be found in the world of travel. And it can all be done from the sanctuary of your bedroom.
Black Friday airfares:
Lots of the big airlines won’t reveal what they’re doing until Friday morning, but last year thousands of flights were given away at increadibly low prices:
WeSwap Tip: Rather than browsing with a particular destination in mind, keep an open mind and let the best deals inspire your choice. Spontaneous and cheap.
Some airlines have revealed their plans:
Icelandic airline Wow has renamed the day Purple Friday (their brand colours) and they’re offering 20% reductions on flights between January and April next year. That can end up being a heafty reduction as they fly to plenty of cities in North America and Canada – the caveat is a stop-off in Reykjavik. Promo code: WOWPURPLEFRIDAY.
Air New Zealand will be offering 100 flights from London to LA from £199 (return) from 10am on Cyber Monday (Black Friday’s techy younger brother).
Norwegian, who offer affordable fares to Europe and America, will be offering discounts of up to 30%. Deals will be revealed at Norwegian.com from midnight on Black Friday.
Keep an eye on Eurostar:
Eurostar has suffered post-Brexit due to the weaker pound - European city breaks are less appealing, and they were Eurostar's bread and butter. They’ve already had to cut services but it wouldn’t be surprising to see deals pop up over the Black Friday weekend.
Young Adventurer: Topdeck Travel, who specialise in adventure tours for 18-30-year-olds, is offering up to 70% off trips. Locations include Australia, North America and Asia.
Luxury Travel: Those looking for a more luxurious experience should check out Sandals Resorts weekend sale (Fri – Mon). Up to 55% savings will be on offer and that includes all-inclusive. These holiday’s aren’t cheap which means the discounts can be in the four-figures.
Mega Deal: Ocean Florida are offering 10 seven-night holidays on the East-Coast for £299pp and get this, that includes flights! This is ridiculous as you’d be hard-pushed to find a flight for that price.
Families: Eurocamp are boasting 40% reductions on holidays in popular French regions. The trips have to be taken before June 22, 2017, but that still plenty of spring/early summertime.
Budget: Another red-hot deal comes in the shape of the Riviera campsite during May half term. That’ll cost you £44 per night for a mobile home that sleeps four. Bookings are open from the first minute of Black Friday until the close on Cyber Monday. They'll go much quicker than that, of course.
First Choice, British Airways Holidays, G Adventures, Thomson, Thomson Cruises, Expedia and Lastminute.com have all offered cut-price deals on holidays in the past on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there will be comps popping up from many of these across all desktop, tablet and mobile devices too.
Anything else?
Our advice would be to get on social media on Friday morning.
Th hashtag #BlackFriday will, of course, be trending but will throw up as many shopping memes and stories of department store brawls as it will cheap travel deals. Just keep an eye out and work your way through all of the sites mentioned on this page.
We’ll be sharing things on Twitter too so follow us to keep track what's going on.
